The star of Africa

The title of the book, The Star Of Africa, is derived from the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found, weighing 3,106.75 carats. This diamond was discovered at the Premiere number two mine in Cullinan, South Africa on the 26th January 1905. It was named after Thomas Cullinan, the owner of the mine.

In April 1905 it was put on sale in London, but despite considerable interest, it was still unsold after two years. In 1907, the Transvaal Colony government bought the Cullinan and Prime Minister Louis Bother presented it to King Edward VII of the United Kingdom who had it cut by Joseph Asscher & Co. In Amsterdam.

This novel, The Star Of Africa, is a fictitious story about the diamond being returned to its original place in Africa. The places and the names of the characters as well as incidents portrayed and the dialogue  are drawn from the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously and are not to be construed as real. Any resemblance to actual events,  country names, business establishments, locales or persons living or dead is entirely coincidental.
